Buckets QB Benched After Career Game

Los Angeles- Derrick Nay is out as the startig QB for the L.A. Buckets. "It's time to make a change," Coach Tando said. "The guy has fumbled the ball away to the opponent in 4 straight games. He is coughing the ball up weekly like Dave Krieg & Warren Moon [former all-time NFL fumble leaders] rolled in to one. Yes he had a career-high 396 yards last week- but a good QB would have had over 600 in the air the way he was missing some of the wide open receivers. There were FOUR plays that the reciever was in the clear deep and he just plain missed. Any one of those catches would have won the game. I've seen enough!"

The benched QB was reached later, "It sucks. But hell I did my best. I know my ratings are better than [new starter] Erickson but for whatever reason I have had a tuff year. I'll be ready if they need me in the future," Nay said.

Former backup David Erickson has never started a game in his 2 seasons. "I came in and filled in a couple plays last season when Nay was banged up but now it's a whole new deal. I hope to lead the team and play well, " He said.

If Erickson does play well, it may be the end of Nay's career in Los Angeles. He is now "Inactive" and on the Trade Block. "Yeah we'll field offers. I know all the teams have pretty much the same ratings but if someone makes an offer on this guy we'll listen!" Coach Tando said.

The Buckets return home to face the New York Bombers next week in Game 6. Last year they exploded on them for 467 rushing yards on their way to a 49-23 blowout. L.A. was on fire from the start- running up the gut for a 61-yard TD burst on the first play from scrimmage and scoring 7 TD's on the ground to handle N.Y.'s potent passing attack by keeping their offense off the field.

Good luck Bombers Coach Centrelli!

UPDATE:

Buckets QB Nay Regains Starting Job

Los Angeles- In an abrupt change of heart, Buckets coach Tando reversed his decision on doghouse-dwelling QB Derrick Nay- inserting him back into the starting lineup at practice this week.

"I over-reacted," Tando said. "He has had asome crappy games with turnovers but has still put up the big stats. I'm not ready to give up on him yet."

When reached for comment, Nay was not bothered by all the negative press received lately, "Yeah I got drug through the mud a little bit but now I get to prove that I belong under center. I hope to have a good game against the Bombers this week and silence the critics." He said.

QB2 Erickson took it in stride, "Back to handing off the ball and being ready if needed. No sweat." He said.

The Buckets need a win to keep pace in the WildCard hunt- and a win for the Bombers could spark some life into the New York franchise...
