Week 19: Buckets Blow It

West Hollywood, CA- The Buckets blew some great chances and lost a tough Insane Bowl to the West Hollywood Fluffy Pink Bunnies, 23-14.

The WFFL Championship Game was a Defensive thriller and L.A. was able to sack Bunny QB Big Gay Al several times- and even picked him off twice- but they could not move the ball and capitalize on the Bunny mistakes and would still trail 13-0 in the 4th Quarter. Finally Buckets QB Pat Binder found his receivers and rallied L.A. to within 6 points with 5 minutes to play at 14-20 but crafty Bunny Coach Alex made the right calls and the Bunnies made the plays to eat the clock and tack on the game-clinching FG with seconds remaining for the final score.

"Congrats to the Bunnies and Coach Alex," Buckets Coach Tando said. "He called an excellent game and my team just didn't do what I wanted them to. Give them credit for earning a great win in the BIG ONE!"

QB Pat Binder was depressed after the game,"I hate myself right now!" He said."I failed to get the ball to the open guys. I got some love in the 4th but it wasn't enough. This game I played like crap - but I am already looking forward to next year!"

Thanx to all for a fine 3rd season in the WFFL!

Cheers,

Jay

Bunnies Edge Buckets 24-13, win 3rd straight Insane Bowl

WEST HOLLYWOOD-It was a game that would take many strange twists, momentum would swing wildly, but in the end it was Fluffy Pink Bunnies who would left holding the Insane Bowl Trophy.

The first quarter was a defensive battle, Big Gay Al was sacked several times and was off target the few times he had time to throw. On the flip side, LA could not muster any offense and could do nothing with a Big Gay Al interception on the Bunny 44 yard line. The first quarter ended 0-0.

In the Second quarter the Bunnies took advantage of a huge punt return to set up Deepy Throaty's one yard td and then added a FG to go into halftime with a 10-0 lead.

That is were the strange twists would begin. The game crashed at half and upon restarting a heavy downpour came down on West Hollywood. Both defense tightened up neither team managing much offense. 13-0 Bunnies after three.

Two plays into the fourth quarter the game went out of sync and became unrecoverable. "What bad timing to have an unrecoverable crash!", stated a flustered Coach K, "The first crash was bad enough, but that last one really changed the face of the game.” Upon restarting a “mod” 4th quarter the rain stopped and the Bucket offense came alive scoring on consecutive drives to cut the lead to 20-14 with about six minutes left in the game.

“We decided at that point that we had to run the clock out and not give Binder another chance to score. He was red hot. I told the guys, hey, this is what championship football is all about. We keep the ball for six minutes and its game over,” said Big Gay Al

Deepy Throaty and Adrian Fagg made several key plays as the Bunnys marched down to the Buckets 18 yard line with 40 seconds left forcing Los Angeles to burn all three time outs. Eddie Slurpstick put the game away with a FG to bring West Hollywood its third title in as many years.

“Tando coached one hell of a game. We almost became the third playoff victim to blow a 13 point lead. Big Gay Al always told me that the big bunny in the sky looks after us and after this game….I’m starting to believe him!”-Coach K
