NSFL 2005 Pro Bowl: AFC Beats NFC in a Thriller, 30-27
Synergistic Stadium, Los Angeles- The AFC, coached by Avon's Joe Leubbers, had an early 16-0 lead over the NFC, coached by L.A.'s Jay Tando, but the game turned into a classic battle in the 4th quarter- with the AFC pulling out the win, 30-27. The opening kickoff to the NFC was fumbled by NFC's Maryland CB Cody Vanderbeek and set the stage for the AFC to score on their first play- a 25-yard pass from AFC Charlotte QB Ken Rogers to New Orleans WR Myron Tiddy. Later in the Quarter the NFC's Chicago QB Willis Selby was intercepted by Tahiti Saftey Oscar Gaines to set up another short field for the AFC and a TD run for a quick 14-0 lead. The AFC added a safety to make it 16-0. But the NFC stormed back on the legs of NFC L.A. Bucket RB Del Thompson (28 att/158 yds) and his 22-yard score up the middle made it 13-16 in the 3rd quarter. The NFC finally took the lead in the 4th Quarter 27-23 on a Willis Selby 10-yard TD pass to St. Louis WR Herman Moore with 3 minutes remaining- but the AFC marched down the field and a AFC Tualatin QB Ken Anderson to Middy connection won the game with a 19-yard TD strike with just over a minute left. The NFC turned the ball over on downs as time ran out- a great comeback for the NFC but an even better finish for the AFC- GREAT GAME, JOE!
