Kali Setup and Instructions

There are at least three options for using Kali to play an FBPRO game.
1. Server Mode
2. Game Lobbies
3. ABC Room

Using the Football Pro '98 Game Lobby and Sever Modes are proving to be the most stable methods for most users, especially dial up connections. After you register Kali you must start up Kali and enter your registration keys by selecting file/settings.

First, the entire FBPRO community owes a thank you to Paul Cabrera and Nolan Denson for their many hours of testing Kali and discovering the most stable ways to use FBPRO on Kali. Their work probably saved this league and perhaps more.

Special thanks to KALI owner Jay Cotton for configuring the KALI server to locate the Football Pro '98 version 1.08 game for us.

Inexperienced users may find the following images and instructions on this page helpful.

We recommend that your register Kali. It will only work if  both of the players are registered.

Kali will search your PC and find the Football Pro 98 version 1.08 game.
For users who have firewall and routers: KALI uses Port 2213.

For Game Lobby Mode, go HERE

For ABC Room, go HERE

For Server Mode: select Servers>Server Mode. This puts your computer into local server mode, and "connects" you to this temporary local server.

Then the other side clicks on server then "connect to address". Then type in the IP address of the computer that is acting as a server. Once you see each other in the same room, you both launch the game by double clicking the Football Pro '98  "Hike" icon.

The user with the slower connection should create the server. The home team should create the game.

Check the low latency.
You want to check the IPX for direct play. If you DO NOT see that option available, that means your computer does not have the IPX protocol installed on your computer. You may need to install it. If so, I would recommend finding your Operating System CD prior to installing it on your system.
Now create game. As for the opponent, he will need to "find game"
You will see waiting for other player then the game will launch.
Now PLAY!
Don’t do anything at half it will continue. If you press any buttons at halftime it will crash the game.

More:
You and your opponent should agree before the game to wait if the game pauses or if you see a File Transfer Error (just hit "ok"). The game will usually resume after about 3-5 minutes. If this happens to often during the game, exit the game and try adjusting your packet settings before restarting the game.

KALI Tracker/Master Server Problems:

1. Start Kali
2. File - Settings
3. Game Browser Tab...Game Master: master.kali.net <--- change to 72.9.254.8
4. Advanced Tab...Kali Tracker: tracker.kali.net <--- change to 72.9.254.8

...if this works...don't forgot to change it back at some point. If the IP changes again you will be right back to your original issue.

Cheers,

Jay
